COLLIS OAK CT., 3900 block, 1:50 a.m. Oct. 27. A homeowner heard a noise upstairs in his residence, retrieved his handgun and stopped a male wearing a ski mask and gloves. A 17-year-old Fair Oaks youth was charged with burglary and released to a parent.

ROBBERIES

BARRY RD., 7100 block, 10:30 p.m. Oct. 21. A man with a gun robbed a 23-year-old male pedestrian of his backpack, then fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

CIMARRON ST., 6700 block, 9:15 p.m. Oct. 24. A group of people pushed an 18-year-old man down, took his book bag and wallet and threatened him with a knife. No injuries were reported.

CRESTLEIGH WAY AND CHRESTLEIGH CIRCLE, 10 p.m. Oct. 25. A gunman stopped a 38-year-old male pedestrian and robbed him of his wallet and briefcase. The robber ran when two people walking dogs approached.

CRESTLEIGH WAY AND CHRESTLEIGH CIRCLE, 9:50 p.m. Oct. 25. A gunman stopped a man and a woman walking on a path. The woman ran for help, and the robber grabbed the male by his jacket. The victim dropped property, slipped out of his jacket and ran. When police arrived, the property was gone.

HILLARY CT., 6300 block, 11:30 p.m. Oct. 25. A gunman grabbed a pizza deliveryman by the arm and robbed him of his wallet.

LEE VALLEY DR., 6500 block, 12:20 a.m. Oct. 25. A man punched and choked a 40-year-old male pedestrian, knocking him down, while another man took his wallet from his pocket. The men then fled on foot. The victim reportedly received minor injuries.

ASSAULTS

TYSONS CORNER CENTER, 8100 block, 1 a.m. Oct. 22. A 38-year-old McLean area man confronted a female acquaintance in a store, held her at gunpoint, sexually assaulted her and stabbed her. The woman escaped and obtained help from a mall security officer and a construction worker. Police evacuated employees in the mall and searched for the man. The man killed himself in a store. His weapon was recovered at the scene. A 39-year-old McLean area woman was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

ROBBERIES

CHERRY ST., 2800 block, 1:25 a.m. Oct. 25. Two men tackled a 57-year-old male pedestrian, knocking him down. One robber then covered the victim's mouth while the other took his wallet. The victim reportedly received minor injuries.

Mount Vernon District

ASSAULTS

RICHMOND HWY., 8400 block. Police were called to a restaurant about a fight. They found three injured men and two others in a nearby neighborhood. Two men were taken to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and three were taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital. All had non-life threatening cuts, police said.

RICHMOND HWY., 6000 block, 1:10 a.m. Oct. 23. A man followed a female pedestrian and engaged her in conversation in Spanish. The woman tried to discourage the man from talking to her, and he appeared to walk away. He then turned around, grabbed her around the waist, tried to carry her, forced her to the ground and got on top of her. The woman screamed, and a male witness shouted from a balcony. The man then punched the woman and ran.

SACRAMENTO DR., 8700 block, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27. A youth assaulted a 51-year-old homeless man while he was crossing the street. Police found the victim unresponsive and bleeding. He was taken to a hospital.

The woman knocked on a door of the apartment and alerted a female occupant. Police were called, and a 31-year-old Sully Station man was charged with peeping into an occupied dwelling.

OLD LEE HWY., 3700 block, 11:37 a.m. Oct. 23. During a traffic stop, police discovered a license plate that had been reported stolen in Maryland. A 24-year-old Maryland man was charged with receiving stolen goods.

OLD PICKETT RD., 3200 block, 10 a.m. Oct. 19. Tools were stolen from a vehicle at a hardware store.

RANGER ROAD AND MOSBY WOODS DRIVE, Oct. 22 to Oct. 23. A license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

SCHUERMAN HOUSE DR., 3500 block, 5:52 a.m. Oct. 22. A homeowner heard a noise outside his garage and footsteps. He saw three people running away from his residence. An investigation revealed that they attempted to remove an air conditioner.

VANDALISM

FOREST AVE., 10100 block, Oct. 23 to Oct. 25. A rear window of a vehicle in front of a residence was broken.

HOWERTON AVE., 10700 block, Oct. 16 to 0ct 17. A vehicle was driven on the front yard of a residence, damaging the grass.

BROAD ST. W., 900 block, 3:41 a.m. Oct. 20. A cash register and cash were stolen from a business entered by smashing a front glass door.

BROAD ST. W., 900 block, 3:48 a.m. Oct. 20. A safe containing cash, two cash registers, foreign currency and phone cards were stolen from a check cashing business entered by smashing a front glass door.

BROAD ST. W., 1100 block, 3:35 a.m. Oct. 20. Cash from a cash drawer and other property were stolen from a business entered by smashing a front glass door.

ELLISON ST., 1200 block, 6:15 to 8:27 p.m. Oct. 22. An unsuccessful attempt was made to enter a residence. Pry marks were found on a patio door, a basement door and a side door. A window next to the patio had been pulled from its frame.

ELLISON ST., 1300 block, 4 p.m. Oct. 15 to 1:12 p.m. Oct. 19. A toolbox containing tools was stolen from a residence under construction.

JEFFERSON ST. W., 100 block, 7 p.m. Oct. 20 to 8:39 a.m. Oct. 21. A grinder saw, a chain saw, a cordless drill and a leaf blower were stolen from a landscape business trailer entered by cutting a lock.

MAPLE AVE. E., 200 block, 7 a.m. Oct. 24. A man in a convenience store concealed merchandise in his jacket. When an employee confronted him, he gave the items back and fled in a pickup truck.

UPHAM PL. NW, 600 block, 10 a.m. Oct. 18 to 12:45 p.m. Oct. 22. Silverware and jewelry were stolen from a residence. There was no sign of forced entry.

WOODVIEW CIR. SW, 100 block, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21. A window of a vehicle at a residence was broken.
