Two homicides: Police yesterday identified the man slain in Bowie on Wednesday as Joseph M. Allen of Northeast Washington.
Allen, 32, of the 1700 block of Lang Place, was found shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 16700 block of Governor Bridge Road about 8 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at Prince George's Hospital Center.
Prince George's County police also said yesterday that a 25-year-old man from Southeast Washington was shot several times Wednesday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in 6300 block of Landover Road in Cheverly. Police said Alex J. Dupigny of the 1400 block of K Street SE was also taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead several hours later.
Police said the killings were apparently unrelated. They said no suspect or motive has been established in either case. The shootings brought to 128 the county's homicides, the same number recorded all of last year.
Robbery: A 65-year-old Alexandria area man who answered a knock at his door Wednesday night was robbed by two masked men who entered his home and threatened to hurt him, Fairfax County police said.
The man, who lives in the 3200 block of Elmwood Drive, just south of the Capital Beltway, was visited about 9:50 p.m. Police said the men took an undisclosed amount of cash from the house and left without harming the resident. Police do not think the victim knew his assailants.
Carjacking: An Alexandria area man who was sitting in a parked Lincoln Town Car in Franconia was assaulted, robbed and carjacked early yesterday, Fairfax County police said.
The 58-year-old man was parked in the 6000 block of Clames Drive and was about to leave for work, said Officer Jeff Hairson. A man with a gun ordered him out of the Town Car and then into the back seat, police said, where a second armed man joined him. The first man then drove the car to a nearby bus stop at Franconia Drive and Beulah Street and picked up another man and a woman.
Police said the car was driven to a church parking lot, where the victim was ordered out, robbed and punched in the face. The victim fled, and the suspects left with the car. The victim was not seriously hurt.
