Orchestra for Children

The music and characters of Serge Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" come to life during the Columbia Orchestra's "Young People's Concert," narrated by Music Director Jason Love with Assistant Conductor Glenn Quader leading the orchestra. The Peabody Children's Chorus will also perform during the concert. Two performances, 12:30 and 3 p.m. Saturday. Children of all ages can visit the Musical Instrument Petting Zoo 1:30-3 p.m. to see, hear, touch and play orchestral instruments. 30 Years of Poetry

The Howard County Poetry and Literature Society -- HoCoPoLitSo -- is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a reading and champagne reception featuring five current and former Maryland poet laureates. Michael Glasser (2004), Lucille Clifton (1976-1985), Michael Collier (1996-2000), Linda Pastan (1991-1995) and Reed Whittemore (1986-1991) will read from their works in round-robin fashion. Crafts for Art's Sake

The annual Artfully Wilde art sale takes place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Slayton House, Wilde Lake Village Green, 10451 Twin Rivers Rd., Columbia. The sale of contemporary and traditional gifts includes wood boxes, glass, pottery, photography, home accessories, tassels, jewelry, notecards, fiber, baskets, prints, journals and more. The items are produced by local and regional artists. Proceeds from the sales will support arts events at Slayton House. 410-730-3987.
