Students to Play at Bowl
About 100 students from Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn have been invited to participate in the Cotton Bowl Music Festival from Dec. 30 to Jan. 1 in Dallas. They will also perform in the pregame and halftime shows at the bowl game Jan. 2.
The students are members of the school's marching band, wind ensemble, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble and concert band, said band director David Keller.
The Stone Bridge High School Music Boosters Association is planning three fundraisers to help cover the estimated travel costs of $700 a student, and it is seeking donations from businesses and residents. Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to SBHS MBA-Cotton Bowl, c/o Stone Bridge High School, 43100 Hay Rd., Ashburn, Va. 20147. Map of Area Parkland
The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority has published a revised wall map of more than 300 local, regional, state and federal parks in the region.
The authority said it worked with 14 public land-management agencies and organizations to produce the full color, nearly 3-foot-square map.
"We hope this map will assist local governments in planning and in park development as well as helping area citizens and visitors seeking nearby park experiences," said NVRPA planner Claire Blanchard, who coordinated the map project.
