Rhonda Pindell Charles of Annapolis has been named coordinator of Anne Arundel County Department of Health's minority health office. Charles, a retired assistant state's attorney, received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Morgan State University and a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. From 1984 to 2004, Pindell served as the Baltimore city state's attorney's deputy chief of the juvenile courts division and supervisor of the charging unit.

Neurosurgeon Gary Dix of Annapolis recently joined the staff of Anne Arundel Medical Center and its affiliate clinic, Maryland Brain and Spine. Dix, originally from South Africa, received a medical degree from Stellenbosch University and completed an internship at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. Before joining the Anne Arundel Medical Center staff, Dix worked at Baltimore's Mid-Atlantic Neurosurgical Associates, Sinai Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital's Spine Center, St. Joseph's Medical Center, Maryland General Hospital and Northwest Hospital & Medical Center.

Steven R. Daviss of Pikesville is North Arundel Hospital's new chairman of psychiatry. Daviss is a board-certified psychiatrist and psychopharmacologist. He received a medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed a medical and psychiatry internship and a general psychiatry residency at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Daviss is president of the Maryland Psychiatric Society and served as the Greater Baltimore Medical Center's assistant chairman of psychiatry before joining North Arundel Hospital.
