Driving Hot Spots
Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.
1. Georgia Avenue: Right southbound lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Elizabeth Drive and Olney-Laytonsville Road.
2. Georgia Avenue:
Left lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between the Capital Beltway and Veirs Mill Road.
3. East West Highway:
Left lanes closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Connecticut Avenue and Edgevale Street.
4. Connecticut Avenue:
Right lanes closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Adams Drive and Brightview Street.
5. Annapolis Road:
Left lane closed in each direction Sunday through Thursday at the Capital Beltway.
6. Capital Beltway (inner loop):
Left lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Good Luck Road and Route 50.
7. Laurel Bowie Road:
Left lane closed for approximately three weeks between Grady's Walk Road and Gallant Fox Road.
8. Oxon Hill Road:
Alternating lanes closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday between Route 210 and the ramp to the outer loop of the Capital Beltway.
9. Capital Beltway (both loops):
Various lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday from Route 210 to the Wilson Bridge.
10. Franklin Street:
Road closed between South Henry Street and Route 1 through December.
11. Glebe Road:
Right southbound lane closed from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays through mid-November between Interstate 395 and Shirlington Road.
12. Springfield Interchange:
Some lanes closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.

Tip of the Week
Now might be a good time to consider a car donation. A new federal law on the tax deductions allowed for donating vehicles to charity goes into effect Jan. 1. The law will limit the allowable tax deduction to the gross proceeds of the sale, rather than the fair market value.
