Want to burn off some calories before sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner? Several races are scheduled in Loudoun and Fauquier counties before turkey day.

On Saturday, the second annual Freeze Your Gizzard race starts at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. Registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.; the race begins at 9 a.m. Race categories include adult and high school 5Ks, middle school 3K and a one-mile elementary school fun run. Registration is $20 plus two cans of food to be donated to Loudoun Interfaith Relief's food bank. All participants will receive a race medal, and Thanksgiving-themed food prizes will be awarded. The seventh annual Remington 5K Turkey Trot begins at 10 a.m. Saturday (registration starts at 9 a.m.) from M.M. On Thanksgiving day, a 5K Turkey Trot will start at 8 a.m. at the Loudoun Valley Community Center to raise money for music and physical education programs at the center and scholarships and financial aid for families in need of preschool or day care. 320 W.
