Artists Return to Reston for Show

The Greater Reston Arts Center will hold a grand reopening exhibition June 10-Aug. 21 featuring the work of artists who grew up or spent several of their formative years in Reston.

There will be an opening reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 10 and an artist panel discussion at 1 p.m. June 11 at the arts center's new location, 12001 Market St., Suite 103, in the Reston Town Center.

The center's move gives it expanded exhibition space, a children's learning center and a shop for original works. Previously the center was on Freedom Drive.

The artists in the show include Rebecca Baron, Maggie Booth, Isabel Farnsworth-Mercer, Adam Grossi, Will Hargett Jr., Elizabeth Kendall, Michael Mendez, Peter Petrine, Marco Rando, Paco Rodriguez, Yumi Janairo Roth, Monica Stroik and James Yamada.

Go to the Movies at RECenter

The Providence RECenter has announced its summer series of movies, to begin Aug. 11 and end Sept. 8.

The Thursday evening series will kick off with "Good Boy!" On Aug. 18, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" will be shown. "Spy Kids" will follow on Aug. 25, and "Spy Kids 2" on Sept. 1. The final movie is "Spiderman 2" on Sept. 8. Movies start at 7:30 p.m.

The cost is $8 a person and $28 for a family of four. Popcorn and other refreshments will be on sale. Attendees can bring picnic dinners, blankets, tarps and beach chairs.

Big-Band Blowout

At Fairfax High

The Fairfax High School Band Boosters will hold their annual Big Band Extravaganza at 7 p.m. Saturday at the school.

The event will feature the music of Swing Shift and the jazz ensembles of Lanier Middle School and Fairfax High School.

Swing Shift, an 18-piece big band from Fairfax, has played at the Kennedy Center, the Carter Barron Amphitheatre and the Birchmere.

Refreshments and raffle tickets will be on sale.
