Birds Reportedly Mistreated COLUMBIA, Little Patuxent Pkwy., 10000 block, 1 p.m. May 25. Roofers for an apartment complex were seen reportedly throwing nests with live birds onto the ground. An animal control officer contacted the roofing company and the property owner and provided instructions on the proper and safe removal of birds and nests.

Cat Killed, Dog Injured in Attack

ELLICOTT CITY, St. Johns Lane N., 3000 block, 10:10 a.m. May 23. Animal control is investigating a report that a Jindo dog killed a cat and attacked another dog at a neighboring residence. Unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the Jindo's owner. The case was continuing.

Man Sentenced in Cat Abuse

ELLICOTT CITY, Howard County District Court, May 26. A 38-year-old Ellicott City man was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years' probation after an April 1 case in which the man was found guilty of two counts of animal abuse of a cat. Animal control officials said it was the first conviction for felony animal cruelty in Howard County.
