County Students to Attend
U.S. Service Academies
Five Prince George's County students have accepted appointments to U.S. service academies for the fall semester.
David Rohan of Bishop McNamara High School will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.; Patricia Cooke of Archbishop Spalding High School was named to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis; and Mark Tilch of Gonzaga College High School and brothers James and Joseph Fasone of Eleanor Roosevelt High School accepted offers to attend the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
Awarded to Senior
Gwynn Park High School senior Areole Hamilton won a $2,000 scholarship from Whole Foods Market of Rockville to study culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Hamilton trained in county public school system's Family and Consumer Science food classes.
Whole Foods Market says it will award more than $50,000 in culinary scholarships in the mid-Atlantic region this year.
