Montgomery County police have identified as many as three suspects in an assault on a 15-year-old high school student, a police spokesman said last night.
The victim, a girl, was found in a daze just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the woods behind Col. Zadok Magruder High School in Rockville, Officer Derek Baliles said. Three Magruder students, ages 15 and 16, are suspects, Baliles said.
No charges had been filed against the youths last night, police said. Investigators are determining whether to charge them with assault, sexual assault or other crimes, said Lt. Eric Burnett, a police spokesman.
Police went to the high school about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report about an "unresponsive" girl, Baliles said. They found the girl with "her eyes open, but she couldn't move, and she initially couldn't respond verbally," Burnett said. The girl had some bruises, Burnett said.
Police are interviewing students to find out what happened, he said.
Emergency crews took the girl to the hospital shortly after she was discovered. She was treated and released that day, Baliles said.
Police did not release the girl's name last night. The Washington Post generally does not identify victims of sexual assault.
