ASSAULTS

AUGUSTA DR., 6100 block, 8 p.m. May 29. A group of males made gang gestures at several party attendees across a street. The group then walked to the party and one swung a machete, striking a male twice. The victim ran away. He was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life threatening injuries to the upper body. A 17-year-old Springfield area juvenile was charged with malicious wounding and gang participation.

ROBBERIES

EDSALL RD., 6400 block, 3:30 a.m. June 1. A man with a handgun robbed a 44-year-old man at a service station of his wallet and cash.

TELEGRAPH RD., 6900 block, 4:30 a.m. June 1. Two men entered a convenience store and threatened a clerk. They took several cartons of cigarettes and a charity box containing coins, then fled in a blue Chevrolet Avalanche

ATTEMPTED ABDUCTIONS

OAKVIEW GARDENS DR., 5800 block, 11:30 p.m. May 31. A male driver stopped his car near a 22-year-old woman who was taking trash to a trash bin. The man handed her a bag of trash and asked her to throw it in the bin for him. When she reached for the bag, he grabbed her arms and neck and attempted to pull her into the car. The victim broke free and ran to a nearby apartment.

VANDALISM

BLACK HORSE CT., 14400 block, midnight May 28. A man and a woman argued and an acquaintance of the woman told the man to leave. The man showed a firearm, left and fired bullets into the acquaintance's vehicle, then fled. Police found a man who had thrown a firearm while fleeing. A K-9 unit located the firearm, which was determined to be stolen. An 18-year-old Maryland man was charged with destruction of property, reckless discharge of a firearm, brandishing a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

TORRENCE STREET AND BOX OAK COURT, 6:30 p.m. May 28. Two men in a vehicle robbed two male pedestrians of cash at gunpoint.

ASSAULTS

GAINSBOROUGH CT., 11100 block, 4:31 p.m. May 29. Police were called about an assault at a residence. A 26-year-old Fairfax man was charged with assault.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 5:35 p.m. May 22. During an argument, a man pushed a woman into a window of a business with a stick, then continued to swing the stick. After he was arrested, he kicked out the rear window of the police car while en route to jail. A 40-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with assault and battery and public drunkenness.

ARLINGTON BLVD., 9500 block, 1:45 to 1:55 a.m. May 28. Cash was stolen from a tip jar in a donut shop.

ARLINGTON BLVD., 9600 block, 12:30 to 1 a.m. May 27. A wallet was stolen from a customer in a business.

CEDAR AVE., 10500 block, midnight May 27 to 8 a.m. May 28. A backpack was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in front of a residence. The backpack was found nearby.

DEMOCRACY LANE, 10900 block, May 27 to May 28. Several maintenance uniforms were stolen from a storage room of a business.

JERMANTOWN RD., 4000 block, 2:09 p.m. May 30. A store security officer stopped two men for concealing merchandise. Two Fairfax men, ages 30 and 29, were charged with shoplifting.

LEE HWY., 10000 block, 12:35 p.m. May 30. Three cartons of cigarettes were stolen from a pharmacy.

LEE HWY., 10000 block, 5:10 p.m. May 25. A man stole a bottle of wine from a store. Police located a man in woods behind the business. A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with shoplifting and public drunkenness.

LEE HWY., 10500 block, 3:41 a.m. May 26. A man stole two six-packs of soda from a store.

LEE HWY., 10600 block, May 28 to May 29. Several items were stolen from a high school, and areas of the school were vandalized.

LEE HWY., 11000 block, 6:55 p.m. May 30. Several packs of cigarettes were stolen from a pharmacy.

MAIN ST., 10000 block, May 26 to May 27. An attempt was made to enter a hair salon through a back door.

MAIN ST., 11200 block, 2:55 p.m. May 28. Gas was stolen from a service station.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 1 to 1:30 p.m. May 29. A wallet was stolen from a customer in a grocery store. Credit cards from the wallet were used in several local businesses.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, May 23 to May 24. Items were stolen from an unlocked locker in a men's locker room at a fitness center.

OLD LEE HWY., 3100 block, 1:30 p.m. May 30. A purse, left inside a restroom at a fast-food restaurant, was stolen.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 1:24 p.m. May 26. An employee observed a man leaving a store with a shopping cart full of unpaid items. A short time later, the man returned and picked up a few more items. Store security detained the man until police arrived. A 48-year-old Falls Church man was charged with grand larceny.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 7:09 p.m. May 31. A person left a business with merchandise.

WOODHAVEN DR., 10800 block, May 28 to May 29. Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in front of a residence.

WOODHAVEN DR., 10900 block, May 26 to May 27. A lawn ornament was stolen from the front yard of a residence.

VANDALISM

ALLISON CIR., 4200 block, 11:49 a.m. May 27. A tire of a vehicle in front of a residence was slashed.

CHAIN BRIDGE RD., 3500 block, 2:50 p.m. May 29. Vending machine glass at a motel was smashed. Nothing was reported missing.

HARVEY DR., 10800 block, 2:30 p.m. May 25. A patrol officer found graffiti on a fence at an apartment complex.

NORMAN AVE., 10600 block, May 28 to May 29. A rear window of a vehicle in front of a residence was smashed.

ORCHARD ST., 10900 block, May 28 to May 29. A side window of a vehicle in front of a residence was broken.

WILSON BLVD., 6700 block, 10:27 p.m. May 27. A male, attempting to break up a fight in a parking lot, was struck on the head. One of the participants in the fight was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital. The incident was under investigation.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BROAD ST. E., 1000 block, 7:35 to 7:58 p.m. May 25. A person was stopped for taking a purse from a store. A 61-year-old person was charged with theft.

ROOSEVELT BLVD., 500 block, 8 a.m. May 24 to 7:36 a.m. May 25. A laptop computer, a digital camera and a DSL box were stolen from a residence.

WASHINGTON ST. N., 200 block, 5 p.m. May 24 to 8:30 a.m. May 25. Two portable phones were stolen from a nurses' station in a medical office.

VANDALISM

BROAD ST. W., 400 block, 8 p.m. May 20 to 7 a.m. May 21. Graffiti was painted on the walls of a stairwell in a building.

WASHINGTON ST. S., 800 block, 8:09 p.m. May 28. Graffiti was spray-painted on an air conditioner and a wooden fence behind a convenience store.

MAPLE AVE. SW, 200 block, May 28. Flags and other property were damaged. A 48-year-old Falls Church woman was charged with defacing a U.S. flag.

MOOREFIELD CREEK RD., 1000 block, May 23 to May 25. A glove compartment of a vehicle was ransacked. Nothing was reported missing.

PARK ST. NE, 200 block, 1:30 to 4 p.m. May 30. A window of a vehicle was broken.

PARK ST. NE, 300 block, 1 to 10:45 a.m. May 30. A lamppost in the front yard of a residence was damaged with a blunt object.
