Irwin Uran, a multimillionaire investor who lived in Leesburg in the late 1990s, and his wife, Betsee Parker, have given $100,000 to Congregation Shaare Shalom's pre-kindergarten program to celebrate their daughter Rosie's second birthday. The program has been named the Rosie Uran Jewish Education Center.

The Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic and Baptist churches in Middleburg hold a joint service every year in honor of the small chapel overlooking the town built by Leven Powell in 1790. The chapel was turned over to the town by his son, Burr Powell, in 1820 as a place where people of all faiths could worship. It was named the Free Church. The service is always held at the Free Church -- now the Baptist Church -- at 207 E. Federal St. The service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday and will be led by the Rev. Lupton Abshire of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. A picnic lunch will be served after the service. 540-687-8053.

Ashburn Presbyterian Church will hold its vacation Bible school, "Serengeti Trek: Where Kids Are Wild About God's Love!" from 9 a.m. to noon daily June 20-24, with a closing program at 7 p.m. June 24.
