Disability Hiring Forum
The D.C. Department of Human Services (DHS) will host a conference tomorrow to help employers in the hiring of people with disabilities.
The DHS Rehabilitation Services Administration and the D.C. Workforce Investment Council are sponsoring the event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Ave. NE.
Experts are expected to discuss new and unique methods to improve accessibility for disabled people. Scheduled topics include the District's One-Stop Career Centers, which help increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Volunteer to Aid Seniors
Volunteers are needed on June 25 to complete basic home maintenance for senior citizens living independently in their home for Age-in-Place, a program of Christian Communities Group Homes Inc. (CCGH) and a service of Episcopal Senior Ministries.
In addition to performing tasks such as mowing yards, trimming hedges and painting, volunteers will interact and socialize with the seniors. The day, which will last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., begins at CCGH at 2501 18th St. NE.
All volunteers are welcome; no special skill is required. Children younger than 15 should be accompanied by an adult. For more information or in the event of bad weather, call Joe Lindquist at 202-635-9384, Ext. 102.
5K Benefits Foster Care
Two organizations that promote foster care and adoption will hold a fundraising 5K walk/run on Saturday to benefit foster and adopted children in the greater Washington area.
W.H.A.L.E.R.'s Creation and the D.C. Metropolitan Foster and Adoptive Parents Association sponsor the event, which begins at 9 a.m. at the Dwight Mosely Athletic Asphalt Track, 18th and Perry streets NE.
In addition to the walk/run, people will be speaking to raise awareness on foster care and adoption. The top three fundraising participants will be given gifts.
Volunteers will help with setup and cleanup, as walkers or runners, to distribute refreshments, and more.
