Plans Open House

Laurel Lakes Telecommuting Center will hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. tomorrow. The center offers local businesses and federal agencies the ability to allow employees to work closer to home. The center, which is run by the College of Southern Maryland in La Plata, is offering a 30-day free trial period for employers. It is located at 13962 Baltimore Blvd., Laurel. Prince George's Child Resource Center of Largo was named a 2005 Catalogue for Philanthropy charity. The catalogue profiles 75 nonprofits with budgets of less than $2 million that are determined to be cost-effective and innovative.

The resource center supports family support and child-care services for county residents.

USTA Gives $5,000

For Tennis Courts

The United States Tennis Association's Maryland District awarded a $5,000 grant to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission to resurface the tennis courts at Cedar Heights Community Center in Seat Pleasant. Last year, the National Junior Tennis League, along with tennis instruction programs, brought more than 400 players to the tennis courts.
