Player of the Year

BEN HOSTETLER, River Hill, Sr.

Attackman scored a school-record 63 goals and added 29 assists and 76 ground balls to lead his team to the semifinals of the 3A/2A North Region tournament and a second-place finish in the county standings.

Hostetler posted 24 goals and eight assists in four games against the county's other top teams -- Centennial, Mount Hebron, Glenelg and Hammond. He has recorded 123 goals and 57 assists the past two years and will play football for Georgetown this fall.

Coach of the Year

DAVE GRIFFIN, Hammond

Seventh-year coach guided the Golden Bears to a fourth-place finish in league play with a record of 7-3, tying their highest finish since 1992.

Hammond, which finished 10-5 overall after losing to River Hill in the quarterfinals of the 3A/2A North Region tournament, has moved into the county's upper echelon of boys' lacrosse, improving on last year's fifth-place finish and a ninth-place showing in 2003. "It's taken some time and a lot of hard work," Griffin said. "But we're finally moving in the right direction."
