Lincoln Memorial, 11:30 a.m. Black Holocaust "Maafa" Memorial Service, a recognition of the middle passage, slavery and lynching.


Capitol Heights: Brooke Road Recreation Center, 1101 Brooke Rd., 10 a.m. Gospel music, poetry reading, dancing, events for children and food. The Rev. Ronald V. Myers Sr. will be the keynote speaker.

Germantown: BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Dr., 4 to 6 p.m. A presentation and photos with the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II and entertainment by gospel choirs and African American drummers and dancers.

Silver Spring: Branch library, 8901 Colesville Rd., 10:30 a.m. Storytelling, film screening, a genealogy workshop and a lecture on black adoption.

Waldorf: Westlake High School, 3300 Middletown Rd., noon to 5 p.m. Shows by zydeco, Caribbean and gospel groups.


Alexandria: Black History Museum, 902 Wythe St., noon to 6 p.m. Exhibit on school desegregation, a genealogy class and a fair at nearby Charles Houston Recreation Center.

African American Civil War Memorial, 10th and U streets NW, noon to 5 p.m. A commemoration with music and speakers.

Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, 1630 Vermont Ave. NW, 10:45 a.m. Juneteenth Father's Day worship service. A jazz and gospel concert will be at 6:30 p.m.
