Anonymous HIV Testing
A free walk-in HIV testing clinic will be provided by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Glen Burnie Health Center, 416 A St. SW. Names are not required to be given. Maryland ranked third in the nation in AIDS prevalence in 2003, and Anne Arundel accounted for 3 percent of all newly diagnosed HIV cases in the state. State Fair Ticket Deals
Discounts for tickets and coupons for attractions and food will be given to groups and businesses that purchase advance group tickets for the 2005 Maryland State Fair. With a minimum purchase of $100 by Aug. 19, the buyer can save $2 each on admission tickets and $6 each on ride-all-rides wristbands and receive five $1 food coupons for $4. The 124th Maryland State Fair will run from Aug. 26 to Sept. 5 at the fairgrounds in Timonium. Children younger than 12 are admitted free but must purchase tickets for rides. The Naval Academy Plebe Sponsor Program is accepting applications until July 1 for the Class of 2009. The program provides midshipmen a "home away from home" in a family atmosphere during their first year at the U.S. Naval Academy. Prospective sponsors must live within a 22-mile radius of the academy and must be at least 28 years old. Attendance at training sessions is required of all new sponsors.
