SEAHAWK BASEBALL TRANSITIONAL CAMP: Open to players 12 years of age, this camp offers personal and group instruction in all phases of the game of baseball. It will be held at South Lakes High from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 (rain date: Sept. 2), from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The cost is $85 before July 15, $100 after. Campers will be divided into groups with other players at the same age and ability level. Games will be played to emphasize those techniques learned in daily instruction.


FOOTBALL OFFICIALS NEEDED: The Northern Virginia Football Officials Association (NVFOA) is seeking new members (must be at least 18) for its 2005 training class who can become on-field game officials and electronic clock operators for games at the youth, middle school and high school levels throughout the Washington area. No experience is necessary. NVFOA is the sole supplier of football officials to all high schools in the Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, and Fauquier. NVFOA also supplies officials to numerous private schools in Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. GIRLS' ACADEMIES: Academy International again will be hosting week-long lacrosse academies for girls throughout the D.C. metro Area in July and August. U-16 GIRLS' TRYOUTS: The LRSC Lightning seeks girls born on/after Aug. 1, 1989. MYS REGISTRATION: McLean Youth Soccer is now accepting registrations for Fall 2005 at www.mcleansoccer.org for all returning and new families who have just moved to the area. MYS offers various programs for children ages 4-18 in the House/Recreation, TOP Soccer, U-5, Travel and McLean Premier Soccer Travel leagues. The season begins Sept. 12 and goes through mid-November. NVSL ALL-STAR RELAY CARNIVAL: All former Northern Virginia Swimming League swimmers are invited to be guests at the NVSL All-Star Relay Carnival, the summer's largest outdoor community swimming event in Northern Virginia, on July 20. Pool No. 2 on Springstone Drive in the Little Rocky Run neighborhood will be the site of the event. There will be 103 teams competing, and former swimmers will be recognized during the halftime break. Gates open at noon, and the meet begins at 4 p.m. There is parking at Centreville High in Clifton.
