Blowing Off Steam
If today's newfangled electric and internal combustion engines don't get your motor running, come catch a glimpse of antique engines at the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Show. There will also be crafts, blacksmiths and flea markets. Special events include a horse pull on July 8 and a concert by the Jones Boys on July 9. Noon-10 p.m. next Thursday; 10 a.m-10 p.m. July 8-10. Art in the Open Air
It's as much about method as it is about style at the Plein Air Competition and Arts Festival. This is a competition among 50 plein air (French for "open air") painters from around the country involved in a movement that emphasizes on-site, outdoor painting. Many other activities will be held touting Easton as a vibrant arts community. Next Thursday to July 10. Tidewater Inn, 101 E. Dover St., Easton. Tickets are $100 for a preview party 5-6:30 p.m. July 9 at the Academy Arts Museum; tickets are $75 for a brunch 9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 10 featuring the prize-winning artists and an auction at the Wye Town Farm.
