For Battle of the Bands
The Reston Community Center is accepting entries through July 8 for a battle of the bands. The event will be from 8 to 11 p.m. July 22 at the Reston Town Center.
Cash prizes will be awarded. Packets for the free registration are available at the front desk of the Reston Community Center at Hunters Woods, 2310 Colts Neck Rd., and the Reston Teen Center at the Reston YMCA, 12196 Sunset Hills Rd.

The McLean Orchestra recently elected members of the organization's 2005-06 board of trustees.
New trustees chosen for three-year terms ending in May 2008 are Barbara Bush, Anthony Corso and Robert Kendall.
Reelected for second terms were Mary Converse, Linda Dickens, Carl Ford, Paul Frank, Marshal Hyman, Ann Page and David Young
The 2005-06 officers are Kenneth J. Nunnenkamp, president; Philip K. Chung, president-elect; Frank, immediate past president; Converse, vice president for administration; Page, vice president for development; Hyman, vice president for events; Ford, treasurer; and Helen Manning, secretary.

Barbecues and Concerts
On Sundays in McLean
The McLean Community Center is combining family barbecues with its Sunday concert series at Central Park.
This Sunday, the barbecue will begin at 1 p.m., and a one-hour free performance by the Attacca Calypso Band will follow at 3. The band plays traditional island favorites, reggae and oldies.
The barbecue will feature activities such as parachute games, sack races, balloon tosses and relay races.
Food and beverages will be provided by Three Pigs Barbecue and Moorenko's Ice Cream Cafe. A barbecue meal costs $5.
The park, at 1468 Dolley Madison Blvd., can be accessed through the parking lot of the Dolley Madison Library.

Works on Central America
Are Sought for Exhibit
The Reston Community Center is seeking submissions for a multicultural art exhibition, "Discover Who We Are," to run from Sept. 12 to Oct. 2.
Artists can submit two works, preferably with a focus on Central America, this year's featured region. Artists should include a brief description of the works' cultural significance.
Artists will be charged a $2 hanging fee per piece but no sales commission.
