Baysox and a Benefit

The Bowie Baysox team with the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department at 7:05 p.m. next Thursday for a benefit for the Annapolis Youth Scholarship Fund. Participants can pick up fundraising cards at Annapolis city offices and local businesses or download them from the recreation department page at Participants should take their fundraising cards to Prince George's County Stadium and buy tickets at the box office. The scholarship fund will receive a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold with a fundraising card. Fans who wear "Annapolis" hats or shirts to the game will have the opportunity to win prizes. Children can run the bases after the game. Call 410-263-7958.

Support Group Registration

Registration is due by July 11 for a six-week support group put on by the Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual and Bereavement Care Center to share coping strategies for those grieving the loss of a parent.

The group will meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Thursday from July 14 to Aug. 18 at 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis. Free for families whose parent was in the care of the Hospice of the Chesapeake; $25 registration fee if the parent was not. To register, call 410-987-2129.

Workshop on Dementia

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging will hold a four-part workshop to demonstrate how to care for people of advanced age dealing with dementia. The classes will be conducted by Mary Fridley, a private nurse.

The workshop will be held at the South County Senior Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater, 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Thursday from July 7 to Aug. 4. Free. To register, call 410-222-4464.
