Ronald C. Dillon Jr., chairman of the County Council, selected five outstanding high school juniors to attend his Summer Leadership Program from Aug. 1-11. The five students are Devin Adams of Northeast High School, Margeaux Corby of Spalding High School and John Mowry, Rachel Volke and Ashley Whitt from Chesapeake High School. The students will attend leadership sessions and work in Annapolis, Glen Burnie and Pasadena on county government-related projects.

Severn School's sailing team has been invited to represent the United States at the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association's Team Racing Championships, which take place Monday and Tuesday in West Kirby, England. The team finished third at the national fleet racing championships in Port Angeles, Wash., and fifth at the national team racing championships at Jensen Beach, Fla. Members of the team who are making the trip to compete are Manton Paine, Lesley Sutherland, Jenny Williams, Russell Cramer, Hans Lutkefedder and Taylor Cole, with Mike Buckley as coach.
