Driving Hot Spots
Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.
1. Old Georgetown Road
Right north- and southbound lanes closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between the Capital Beltway and West Cedar Lane.
2. Muncaster Mill Road
Road closed for eight weeks between Sweetbirch Drive and Norbeck Road.
3. University Boulevard
Right westbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between Piney Branch Road and the Capital Beltway.
4. Capital Beltway (inner loop)
Left lane closed 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday through Friday between the Montgomery and Prince George's county line and Greenbelt Road.
5. Capital Beltway (outer loop)
Right lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between St. Barnabas Road and Branch Avenue.
6. Oxon Hill Road
One lane closed in each direction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday between Route 210 and the Capital Beltway.
7. Capital Beltway (outer loop)
Two left lanes closed 8 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday; two right lanes closed 8 a.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday between Route 210 and Interstate 295.
8. Laurel Fort Meade Road
Right eastbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between Seventh Street and Baltimore Avenue.
9. Springfield interchange
Some lanes closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
10. Nebraska Avenue NW
Two westbound lanes closed between 41st Street and Tenley Circle.
11. Kenilworth Avenue NE
Northbound lane closures 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday between Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue and the Maryland state line for three weeks.
12. Chesapeake Bay Bridge
Various nighttime lane closures on the westbound span 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Virginia Railway Express
Effective Tuesday, the validation rule for Amtrak Step-Up tickets is eliminated. Riders may board the train with a multi-ride VRE ticket and a Step-Up ticket, and conductors will check the VRE tickets and collect the Step-Up tickets.
