As Warhol Might Have Seen It

The Vienna Arts Society's new exhibit, "Retro/Funk Art," on display Monday through Aug. 27 at the Vienna Art Center, features paintings that render today's subject matter in the artistic manner of earlier years.

A reception for the artists will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. next Thursday. The center, at 115 Pleasant St. NW, Vienna, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

At Annual Children's Concert,

A Chance to Conduct the Band

The City of Fairfax Band will hold its annual children's concert, featuring folk musician and storyteller John Lyon, at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday at the Veterans Amphitheater in Fairfax City.

There will be free balloons and ice cream and drawings for two children to conduct the band and for free season tickets to the band's next subscription season.

Two Shows in Reston

Reston Art Gallery and Studios is presenting two shows this month featuring 13 studio artists.

One show is in the Jo Ann Rose Gallery at the Reston Community Center at Lake Anne, 1609 Washington Plaza. It is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sundays. The other is a few doors down at the gallery's studio, 11400 Washington Plaza West, which is open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

A free opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery.
