ASSAULTS

MOUNT VERNON AVE., 4000 block, 9:50 p.m. July 3. Two men, ages 34 and 35, told a police officer that a man had cut them with a small knife as they left a nearby convenience store. The officer found a suspect nearby. An Alexandria man, 25, was arrested and charged with felonious assault. The two men were taken to area hospitals and treated and released.

ROBBERIES

28TH ST., S., 3100 block, 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. July 3. A male pedestrian, 34, was approached by three men as he left his parked car. One man punched the pedestrian and sprayed his face with pepper. Another robber demanded money. After the man gave up his wallet, one of the men punched him, knocking him down. The robbers fled on foot.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

COMMONWEALTH AVE., 1700 block, 4:18 a.m. July 3. A woman, 24, awoke and found a strange man in her bed. The man tried to pin her down, but she escaped into another room and alerted her roommates. The man fled through a bedroom window. The intruder apparently entered the home by forcing the window open.

DALE ST., unit block, 6:55 to 7:40 a.m. July 2. A purse was stolen from a residence entered by forcing a rear door.

DEWITT AVE., 1700 block, 1:25 a.m. July 6. A woman, 28, heard noises outside her home. When she investigated, she discovered an open bedroom window with its screen off. She looked out the window and saw a man standing outside. The man walked away, and the woman called police.

KING ST., 4300 block, 4:30 to 4:40 a.m. July 4. Money was stolen from a safe at a business.

LINDEN ST. E., unit block, 9:20 a.m. to 5:35 p.m. Jewelry and electronic equipment were stolen from a residence.

VERMONT CT., 3800 block, 1:25 p.m. June 30. Investigating a residential alarm, police discovered someone had cut a rear window screen at a residence, and a rear door was ajar. An Alexandria man, 42, was found trying to hide in the back yard. He was charged with burglary.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

BRADDOCK RD. E., unit block, 11:30 p.m. July 3 to 10 a.m. July 4. A red 1997 Acura Integra was stolen.

BRADFORD CT., 5400 block, 9:30 p.m. June 30 to 6:10 a.m. July 1. A black 1996 Lincoln Continental was stolen.

DUKE ST., 4100 block, 4:16 p.m. June 27 to 6 p.m. July 7. A blue 1997 Nissan Elantra was stolen.

DUNSTER CT., 5700 block, 11:30 p.m. July 3 to 1:30 a.m. July 4. A light blue 1994 Honda Accord was stolen.

KENWOOD AVE., 1600 block, 12:01 to 11:30 a.m. July 2. A silver 1997 Honda Civic was stolen.

KING ST., 1500 block, 10 p.m. July 2 to 12:30 p.m. July 4. A dark green 1995 Ford Explorer was stolen.

RALEIGH AVE., 4400 block, 2 to 10:30 p.m. June 30. A light blue 1985 Volkswagen Golf was stolen.

RICHENBACHER AVE., 5400 block, 7 p.m. July 5 to 4 a.m. July 6. A black 1995 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen.

ST. ASAPH ST. N., 800 block, 10:30 p.m. June 30 to 6 a.m. July 1. A brown 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen.

REWARDS FOR INFORMATION

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

FAIRFAX DR. N., 4000 block, 5 p.m. July 1 to 6:37 p.m. July 3. Two laptop computers were stolen from a business entered by kicking a front door.

HARRISON ST. N., 2200 block, 4:47 a.m. July 2. Residents returned home and found a man under their bed. An Arlington man, 28, was arrested and charged with burglary. The man was allegedly found in possession of medication taken from the home. There were no signs that the home had been forcibly entered.

JOYCE ST. S., 1600 block, 3 a.m. July 5. A woman awoke and found a man standing in her bedroom. She screamed, and he fled.
