Pottermania for Muggles

The Howard County Library is celebrating the release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth book in the series by J.K. Rowling, with a party tomorrow for children 9 and older. The party will include wizard crafts, a magician, a costume parade and Harry Potter movies. At 12:01 a.m. Saturday, the book will be available for those who reserved it with the library. Borders Books will also be selling the book and will accept preorders. Registration for the party is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 9 p.m. tomorrow-12:30 a.m. Saturday. It's a Small World

The 11th annual Columbia International Day, sponsored by the Columbia Association, features the theme "Music Around the World." It includes live performances from Sol Y Ramba, Charm City Klezmer, Irish Dance, Solazo and Rhonda Robinson Jazz. A highlight of the day-long event is an art contest focusing on the theme. Youths 5 to 17 will display their original designs on golf umbrellas that they used as canvases.
