Hospital Takes New Name
North Arundel Hospital recently announced it has changed its name to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. The aim is to reflect its broader geographic focus in the region and its plans to accommodate the projected growth of nearby Fort Meade and housing expansion near Arundel Mills and Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Hospital leaders announced the name change, which marks the institution's 40th anniversary, to more than 100 medical center physicians, staff members, patients, board members, volunteers, and state and county elected officials.

Annapolis Park Reopens
The Newman Street Park and Playground was officially reopened recently, with Annapolis Mayor Ellen O. Moyer, former Annapolis Rotary president Ron Baradel and Rotary volunteer Alice Neily-Mutch on hand. Since 2003, the one-acre park in downtown Annapolis had been undergoing an approximately $400,000 renovation of its playground and sitting areas to make the facility compliant with national playground safety standards and with the Americans With Disabilities Act. And aesthetic changes were made to the sitting areas to reflect the city's historical and maritime surroundings.
