Groundbreaking Held

A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week in Bowie for a two-building complex that will hold the International Masonry Institute's National Training Center. The 106,000-square-foot complex is part of the Maryland Science and Technology Center and will serve as the training center for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.

The $20 million project is expected to be completed in fall 2006.

On Procurement Study

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission is soliciting public comments about its recently released disparity study that evaluates procurement of small, local and minority business enterprises.

Free Workshop

For Home Buyers

Representatives from Flagstar Bank's Fort Washington loan center, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will hold a free workshop about budgeting and homeownership from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30 at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex's Landover Room.

The workshop will include free credit counseling and credit reports. The complex is at 8001 Sheriff Rd., Landover 202-263-4608.
