New KidSafe Programs
KidSafe, a nonprofit organization serving families in the District, is offering a new after-school and enrichment program for children and an educational program for adults.
The KidSafe Center Out-of-School programs provide children's activities in academics and life skills and promote family literacy. The Summer Enrichment Program is offered weekdays from 1 to 5:30 p.m. until Aug. 12. During the upcoming school year, the center will be open weekdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
In addition to the children's programs, KidSafe has adult programs on literacy training, basic education, GED preparation and employment readiness. The Adult Literacy and Employment Readiness Training (Project A.L.E.R.T.) is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Planning Board Meets
The D.C. Historic Preservation Review Board has scheduled its next monthly meeting and public hearing for 10 a.m. next Thursday in Room 220 South at 441 Fourth St. NW. The Board plans to review permit applications for historic landmarks and districts in Washington.
Meeting agendas are released five days prior to the meeting. To obtain the board's meeting and hearing agendas, go to the Office of Planning Web site at www.planning.dc.gov and click on the links for "Historic Preservation" and then "Calendar."
