Main Street Gallery of Prince Frederick was selected as a nominee for the 2005 Top 100 Retailers of American Craft, as recognized by NICHE magazine. The honorees will be announced at a ceremony Aug. 5 at a convention in Philadelphia. Criteria for selection include courteous and respectful treatment of artists, paying on time, promoting and marketing American crafts, giving back to the craft community, mentoring emerging artists and maintaining an inventory of at least 85 percent American crafts.

Maryland Cooperative Extension has scheduled a financial counseling training course to deal with rising trends of poor debt management. The course will run a total of 15 hours, from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31. The course, designed for agency personnel and church and community volunteers, will meet at County Services Plaza, Suite 102, 150 Main St., Prince Frederick.
