On Tuesday, communities around the country will take part in the annual National Night Out. Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, it consists of local events designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention and generate support for, and participation in, anti-crime programs. The evening is also aimed at strengthening neighborhood spirit and community relationships with police. Below is a list of local Night Out activities planned for some communities in Prince George's County.

ACCOKEEK -- a chance to meet local law enforcement representatives and neighborhood residents; includes door prizes, safety information and free food. Sponsored locally by the Greater Accokeek Civic Association, 6-8 p.m., Accokeek Neighborhood Park, 16100 Livingston Rd. Call 301-283-6838.

HYATTSVILLE -- a chance to meet Hyattsville police officers and see rescue and emergency vehicles; also includes children's games, moon bounce, bike rodeo with prizes at 7:30 p.m., crime prevention displays and literature, steering wheel lock devices for sale at reduced prices, and hot dogs and chips.
