"Godspell" opens tomorrow evening for a month-long run at Black Box Theatre in Indian Head.

"Godspell," written by John Michael Tebelak and based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, features songs by Stephen Schwartz, who also wrote the songs for the musicals "Pippin" and "Wicked," among others.

Black Box Theatre has brought together a cast of 10 actors who, with a combination of physical comedy, dance, song and magic, bring to life some of the best-known Biblical parables.

Performances are at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. on Sundays, tomorrow through Aug. 28. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased online at www.floatingtheatre.org or by phone at 800-494-8497.

This Saturday's performance is a charity gala for the Conservancy for Charles County. The evening includes a cocktail buffet at 6:30, then a performance of "Godspell" at 8. Tickets for the benefit are $100, with $65 of the cost tax deductible.
