Bridget Boardman of Odenton was appointed executive director of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce. Boardman has nearly 10 years of experience in sales, customer service and marketing. She is owner and president of Shindig, an event-planning company, and joined the chamber in April as assistant director.
Mary Ellen Mason of Severna Park is the new director of the Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute at Anne Arundel Community College. Mason, who joined the institute in 1990 as a part-time instructor, has been the interim director since last August. As director, Mason will identify and implement new programs to strengthen the curriculum, adapt programs to meet statewide industry and labor market needs and incorporate a variety of technologies into the programs.
Diane Beetle of Arnold and Marie A. Schafer and Lavena Scott of Annapolis have joined the staff of Hospice of the Chesapeake. Beetle, a certified oncology nurse, is the hospice's new central team leader. Beetle has more than 13 years of experience as an oncology nurse and has specialized in hospice nursing care and training. Schafer and Scott are the hospice's new community nurse educators and will serve as liaisons between the hospice and the medical community. Schafer spent five years as an on-call nurse and volunteer with Hospice of Charles County. Scott has 12 years of nursing experience and spent five years as a hospice admissions nurse. Hospice of the Chesapeake is a nonprofit hospice and bereavement care center with offices in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties.
K. Adam Lee was appointed director of thoracic surgery for Anne Arundel Medical Center's Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. Lee is a board-certified thoracic and general surgeon. The Kent Island resident graduated from New York Medical College in 1991 and completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center. Lee served as chief of thoracic surgery and the chair of the surgical department at Florida's Memorial Hospital Pembroke.
