Skunk Drops In
SPRINGDALE, Cousins Dr., 3600 block, July 16. A skunk fell into a three-foot-deep window well at a residence. An animal control officer released it back into the wild.
Raccoon Found in Basement
TEMPLE HILLS, 26th Ave., 3700 block, July 19. A raccoon got into a residential basement. An animal control officer took it to the shelter and euthanized it, as required by the county health department for rabies control.
Police Turn In Mixed Pit Bull
CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Quo Ave., 1200 block, July 19. Montgomery County police asked animal control to pick up a stray dog. The white, 4-year-old female mixed pit bull was held for five days. Because it was not claimed, it was euthanized according to county regulations, which make owning a pit bull illegal if it was born after Feb. 3, 1997.
Beagle Wanders Onto Porch
OXON HILL, Ottawa St., 5700 block, July 19. A resident reported a stray dog sitting on a front porch at the property. An animal control officer picked up the 2-year-old, male tricolor beagle and took it to the shelter to be held as a stray.
Cats Available for Adoption
The Prince George's County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat adoptions, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bowie Petco, 15461 Excelsior Dr. The pets' foster caretakers will answer questions and accept adoption applications.
