Tax 'Holiday' Continues
The District's back-to-school sales tax "holiday" continues through Sunday with shoppers exempted from the city's 5.75 percent sales tax on purchases of school-related clothing and supplies. To be eligible for the exemption, clothing and footwear bought during the holiday must cost less than $101 per item.
This is the first of two sales tax holidays in the District this year. The next scheduled tax respite will be Nov. 25-Dec. 4. For more information, call the Office of Tax and Revenue at 202-727-4829 or go online at cfo.dc.gov/otr.
