Franconia District

ASSAULTS

COMMERCE ST., 6800 block, 2 a.m. July 29. Police, investigating a report of gunshots in the parking lot of a restaurant, determined that no one was injured. Witnesses said two men fired guns toward each other, but they were gone. Bullet holes were found in a wall of the restaurant and the hood of a parked car.

FRANCONIA RD., 6100 block, 5 p.m. July 25. A man started an argument with a 30-year-old man in a convenience store. One of the man's acquaintances challenged the victim to a fight, and they went outside but did not fight. The victim returned to the store to pay for merchandise, and the man who had started the argument reentered the store and stabbed him in the back. The assailant fled with other men in a vehicle. The victim was treated at a hospital.

FRANCONIA RD., 6500 block, 11:30 a.m. July 29. Two students brought BB guns to a high school. An 18-year-old Falls Church area male was charged with brandishing a weapon on school property and possession of a concealed weapon on school property. A 17-year-old Falls Church area male was charged with possessing a concealed weapon on school property. No injuries were reported.

ROBBERIES

APSLEY HOUSE CT., 5800 block, 2 a.m. July 29. A vehicle was stopped next to a parked vehicle occupied by two women and a man. Two male juveniles, one with a gun, got out of the first vehicle and demanded cash from one female in the other vehicle. The other robber then took the gun and demanded cash. The robbers then fled in their vehicle without taking anything. An 18-year-old male friend of one of the victims was in a vehicle parked nearby, and one of the robbers pointed a gun at him as their vehicle passed. The acquaintance of the victim followed them and called police. Police located two youths, and a BB gun was found in the grass nearby. Two Springfield area boys, ages 14 and 16, were charged with robbery.

ROBBERIES

GLEN CARLYN AND BELLVIEW DRIVES, 1 a.m. July 26. A man with a knife demanded cash from a 35-year-old man. When the victim said he had none, the man stabbed him in the upper body and fled on a bicycle. The victim was treated at a hospital. A 30-year-old man of no fixed address was located and charged with attempted robbery and malicious wounding.

LAFITTE CT., 4700 block, 1:30 a.m. July 31. A group of men demanded cash from a 17-year-old male pedestrian. The victim had no cash, and a male threw a rock at him and assaulted him before the group fled. The victim reportedly received minor injuries.

LEESBURG CT., 3500 block, 1:30 a.m. July 31. A man punched a 24-year-old man in the head as he was getting out of his car. Another man held a gun to his head and took items. The robbers then fled in another vehicle driven by another person. The victim reportedly received minor injuries.

MINA LOMA CT., 8400 block, 11 p.m. Aug. 3. A man demanded cash from a 20-year-old man. When the victim refused and began to walk away, the man shot him in the upper body. The victim was treated at a hospital.

NEWINGTON FOREST AVE., 8000 block, 11:30 p.m. Aug. 3. A group of males, one with a gun, robbed an 18-year-old man and assaulted another 18-year-old man as they were leaving an elementary school. The second victim escaped and flagged down a police officer. The group ran behind the school. The victim of the assault reportedly received minor injuries.

KINGS PARK DR., 5500 block, 7 p.m. Aug. 3. A male juvenile stabbed a male acquaintance during an argument. The acquaintance was treated at a hospital. A 16-year-old Springfield area boy was charged with malicious wounding and released to a parent.

A police officer on patrol at Wakefield Park saw two juveniles running from a softball field and found several knives, a shotgun and a safe near their vehicle. A 17-year-old Alexandria male ran across eight lanes of the Capital Beltway and police found him hiding in brush. A 17-year-old Annandale area boy was identified. Both were charged with burglary and grand larceny.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9600 block, 7:50 p.m. July 30. A man spit on a manager of a restaurant after he was asked to leave for disorderly conduct. A 21-year-old Leesburg man was charged with assault and public drunkenness.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9600 block, 12:56 a.m. July 29. Two men refused to pay their bill at a business. Two 35-year-old Fairfax men were charged with defrauding an innkeeper and public drunkenness.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 10800 block, 9:14 p.m. July 30. Gas was stolen from a service station.

PICKETT RD., 9400 block, 5:05 to 5:20 p.m. July 31. A safe containing cash and checks was stolen from an office in a business. Cash was also stolen from an employee's purse in the office.

SCOTT DR., 10700 block, 1:30 p.m. Aug. 1. A man was observed taking a gun from a person's vehicle and hiding it. When confronted by a witness, the man retrieved the gun. A 20-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with theft of a firearm.

WARWICK AVE., 10500 block, 7:54 to 8:15 a.m. July 28. Temporary license plates were stolen from an unlocked safe at an auto dealership.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

CORNWALL DR., 10100 block, 10:46 a.m. July 29. A person reported that a vehicle without a license plate had been parked in front of a residence for several days. An investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Arlington County.

VANDALISM

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9400 block, 6 to 6:20 a.m. July 29. A rear window of a vehicle in a parking lot was smashed.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 10400 block, 2:15 to 3 a.m. July 30. Windshield wipers on two vehicles parked behind a business were broken.

HOLLY ST., 4100 block, July 28 to July 29. Tires of a vehicle in front of a residence were punctured.

ALABAMA DR., 1200 block, 1:28 p.m. July 29. Graffiti was written on a fence.

ALTON SQ., 12900 block, 11:09 a.m. July 28. A doorknob was pulled off a service door.

CYPRESS TREE CT., 1100 block, 4:56 p.m. July 25. A vehicle was driven onto a front yard, damaging the lawn.

ELDEN ST., 300 block, 8:28 p.m. July 25. A window of a business was broken.

LAUREL WAY, 100 block, 8:18 a.m. July 26. Graffiti was spray-painted on walls.

SPRINGTIDE PL., 1200 block, 5 p.m. July 25. Graffiti was written with a black marker on playground equipment.

COTTAGE ST. SW, 600 block, 4 p.m. July 28 to 9 a.m. July 31. A statue, a bronze plaque and other property were stolen from the back yard of a residence.

MAPLE AVE. W., 500 block, 9:44 p.m. Aug. 1. Gas was stolen from a service station.

VANDALISM

CREEK CROSSING RD. NE, 500 block, 2 p.m. Aug. 1 to 6 a.m. Aug. 2. A door was dented of a vehicle parked on the street, and the driver's side window was broken.

GLYNDON ST. SE, 1000 block, 7 p.m. July 27 to 6:30 p.m. July 28. The driver's side mirror of a vehicle at a residence was broken.

ONONDIO CIR. SW, 400 block, 9 p.m. Aug. 1 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2. Graffiti was scratched on a parked vehicle.
