Galilee United Methodist Church will hold a free gifts and talents show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in which members of the congregation will offer such skills as music, comedy, poetry and line dancing and display such arts as photography, needlework, paintings and drawings. A free ice cream social will be held after the show.

Next Thursday, the church will hold a service of prayer and healing at 7:30 p.m. Child care is available for children younger than 3; the registration deadline is Monday.

At 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20, the church will hold "P/Raise the Roof," a concert and benefit featuring the Full Circle Band from Floris United Methodist Church; an ice cream social follows. Free, but donations accepted for the Child Rescue Centre in Sierra Leone. Child care available for those younger than 3; deadline for reservations is Wednesday.

A camp meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 21 during August Court Days at the Virginia Old Stone Church site at Cornwell and Liberty streets in Leesburg. Camp meetings were introduced in the United States in the 18th century and gained popularity in the early 19th century. These outdoor revival meetings featured circuit-riding evangelists. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. F.W. "Chip" Giessler, senior pastor at Evergreen United Methodist Church in Leesburg.
