MARYLAND

Dentist Charged A former Silver Spring dentist is accused of Medicaid fraud and bilking more than $280,000 from Maryland's Medical Assistance Program.

The state attorney general's office said Azad Ally and his wife submitted hundreds of falsified claims for dental services that were never provided to patients.

The alleged fraud occurred between August 1997 and May 1999 in connection with a community dental health program administered by Prudential Insurance.

Ally and his wife are charged with conspiracy and Medicaid fraud. The couple now lives in Palm Bay, Fla.

A Medicaid conviction would bar Ally from participating in Maryland's Medicaid program for at least five years. He also would face up to five years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Victim Identified Police have identified the teenage girl fatally shot in a drive-by attack in the Severn area Wednesday night.

Keisha Lane, 15, of Hagerstown and a 19-year-old male companion were shot near Robin Court and Stillmeadows Drive.

Both were taken to a hospital, where Lane was later pronounced dead.

Anne Arundel County police say they have no suspects or motive. Witnesses described seeing three people in a dark-colored sedan.
