Driving Hot Spots

Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.

1. Old Georgetown Road

Right southbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday between the Capital Beltway and West Cedar Lane.

2. Colesville Road

Left northbound and southbound lanes closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between the Capital Beltway and Sligo Creek Parkway.

3. University Boulevard

Right eastbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between the Capital Beltway and Piney Branch Road.

4. Darnestown Road

Alternating traffic pattern in both directions with flagging operation 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Whites Ferry Road and the county line.

5. Capital Beltway (inner loop)

Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays between the Cherry Hill Road overpass and Rhode Island Avenue.

6. Old Route 450

Road closed at the CSX tracks in Bowie until fall 2006; a detour is in place.

7. Capital Beltway (outer loop)

Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays between the Greenbelt Metro station and Baltimore Avenue (Route 1).

8. Capital Beltway (inner loop)

Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Route 5 and Route 210.

9. Capital Beltway (outer loop)

Two right lanes closed 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday and two left lanes closed 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday between Interstate 295 and Route 210.

10. Capital Beltway (outer loop)

Three left lanes closed 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday at the Telegraph Road interchange.

11. Capital Beltway (outer loop)

Alternating single and multiple lane closures 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. next Saturday between Telegraph Road and Route 1.

12. Springfield interchange

Possible lane closures in both directions 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

Transit Update

Metrorail

Motorists who park at the Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center Metrorail stations on certain days but don't use Metro will be charged $25 to park, $30 if they need to purchase a SmarTrip card. This payment structure will be in effect for specially designated events at FedEx Field, including all Redskins football games.
