Kids' Festival at Wolf Trap
The 35th annual International Children's Festival will be held Sept. 17and 18 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna.
The festival includes ongoing performances and visual arts by children from around the world. This year will feature performers from India, the Republic of Georgia, Mexico and Nigeria. The musical duo Trout Fishing in America is also scheduled to perform at the festival, to be held rain or shine.
Dancers, musicians and storytellers will perform in the Filene Center, the Meadow Pavilion and the Theatre-in-the-Woods. There will also be hands-on workshops for children in an arts and technology pavilion.
The Arts Council of Fairfax County, the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the National Park Service are producing the festival. Proceeds benefit the arts council's programs.

Virginia Opera Fundraiser
The Virginia Opera will hold a fundraising concert on Sept. 24 at Veramar Vineyard in Berryville to help launch its 2005-06 season at the Center for the Arts at George Mason University in Fairfax.
The 7:30 p.m. event will include dinner, wine and a private concert by the opera's mainstage artists. The proceeds support the opera's activities in Northern Virginia.
The new season opens Oct. 14 with Verdi's "La Traviata." The season continues with Charles Francois Gounod's "Romeo and Juliet" Dec. 2 and 4, Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" Feb. 17 and 19 and Vincenzo Bellini's "Norma" April 7 and 9.
Tickets for the Veramar Vineyard fundraiser are $175; round trip bus transportation is available for $15 per person.
