The Alexandria City Council is seeking applicants for the following vacancies on city boards, commissions and committees. The council will act on these vacancies at its Sept. 13 meeting. Applicants must complete a Personal Data Record Form and return it to the Office of Citizen Assistance in City Hall by 5 p.m. Sept. 2. Applicants must live in Alexandria. Alexandria-Caen Exchange Committee, seven citizen members. Time commitment: about four hours a month.

Alexandria-Gyumri Sister City Committee, five citizen members. Time commitment: about three hours a month.

Alexandria Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, one representative of the City's faith community. Time commitment: about four hours a month.

Alexandria Archaeological Commission, one member from the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Time commitment: about five hours a month.

Alexandria Citizen Corps Council, one representative of the Alexandria business community and one member designated by the Alexandria School Board. Time commitment: to be determined.

Alexandria Commission on Aging, one representative of older persons. Time commitment: about five hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on Employment, two representatives from such organizations as educational agencies, organized labor, rehabilitation agencies, community-based organizations, economic development agencies and the public employment service. Time commitment: about five hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on HIV/AIDS, two citizens-at-large, one member from and representing the Alexandria Human Rights Commission, one member from and representing the Alexandria Community Services Board, one member from and representing Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, one member from and representing the Alexandria Commission for Women, one member from and representing the Inova Alexandria Hospital, one member who is a practicing physician, one member from and representing the Alexandria Interfaith Association and one member from and representing the Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission. Time commitment: about three hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on Information Technology, one representative from the Alexandria Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee and one member representing a provider of local telephone services. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on Persons With Disabilities, one representative of the Alexandria Commission on Aging and one representative from the business community-at-large. Time commitment: about eight hours a month.

Alexandria Community Criminal Justice Board, one citizen member and one representative of a nonprofit organization recommended by the Alexandria United Way. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Community Policy and Management Team, two parent representatives who are not an employees of any public or private program that receives funds from the Comprehensive Services Act. Time commitment: about eight hours a month.

Alexandria Consumer Affairs Commission, two local consumer action organization members. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association Board of Governors, one hotel owner/manager representative, one retail business owner/manager representative, one national or international trade or professional association executive, an Alexandria Hotel Association President and one member-at-large. Time commitment: about three hours a month.

Alexandria Early Childhood Commission, one representative from the Alexandria chapter of the Northern Virginia Family Day Care Association and one parent of a pre-kindergarten through grade three child eligible for a free or reduced price lunch. Time commitment: about five hours a month.

Alexandria Emergency Medical Services Council, one representative of the Alexandria Federation of Civic Associations and one representative of the providers of private ambulance services in the City. Time commitment: meets quarterly at the call of the Chair.

Alexandria George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee, one member who attends high school in the City, one member nominated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and one member nominated by a veterans organization other than the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia, a health care provider. Time commitment: about four hours a month.

Historic Alexandria Resources Commission, one representative from George Washington Masonic Memorial, one representative from the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association and one member-at-large from Planning District II. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Industrial Development Authority, two citizen members. Time commitment: meets at the call of the Chair.

Alexandria Law Library Board, one citizen member. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, one representative from the arts community. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee, one qualified professional skilled in architecture. Time commitment: meets at the call of the Chair.

Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission, one representative of the Inova Alexandria Hospital Board, one representative of the Alexandria Emergency Medical Services Council and one representative of the Alexandria Dental Society. Time commitment: about four hours a month.

Alexandria Public Records Advisory Commission, one citizen member. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Sister Cities Committee, two representatives from the Alexandria-Gyumri Sister City Committee. Time commitment: about four hours a month.

Alexandria Social Services Advisory Board, one citizen member and three parent members. Time commitment: about six hours a month.

Alexandria Urban Design Advisory Committee, one representative of the Old Town North business community. Time commitment: meets at the call of the Chair.

Alexandria Waterfront Committee, one citizen-at-large representative who resides west of Washington Street, one representative from the Alexandria Seaport Foundation, one representative from the Alexandria Archaeological Commission and one representative from the Alexandria Environmental Policy Commission. Time commitment: about three hours a month.

Alexandria Youth Policy Commission, two members of the Alexandria City School Board's Advisory Committee, one parent member from School Board District C and one member of the Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission. Time commitment: about five hours a month.
