Held Without Bond An 18-year-old man charged in the killing of a 46-year-old Southeast Washington woman was held without bond yesterday after appearing in D.C. Superior Court.
Russell Mitchell was one of eight or nine people who apparently opened fire on the night of Aug. 17 in a courtyard in the 2700 block of Robinson Place SE, prosecutors said in charging papers filed yesterday.
Dorine Fostion, who was watching television in her living room, was hit by a stray bullet. She died that night at a hospital.
Mitchell, whose grandmother is former D.C. Council member Sandy Allen, was arrested Wednesday at his home, which is in the same block as Fostion's.
Fatal Shooting A 19-year-old man has died of injuries suffered in a shooting Tuesday night in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said.
Devon Johnson of the 1200 block of North Capitol Street was shot in the back about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of 16th Street SE, police said.
Johnson died the next morning at Howard University Hospital, police said.
Slaying in NW A 41-year-old man was fatally shot yesterday in Northwest Washington, police said.
James Richard Cousart Jr. was found about 1:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of First Street, police said. He had been shot several times. Cousart, of the 1800 block of Kendall Street NE, died at Washington Hospital Center, authorities said.
Two Killed Two men were killed yesterday in unrelated shootings in Prince George's County, police said.
Officers found Willie Williams Jr., 40, dead in his home in the 7500 block of Greer Drive, near the Camp Springs area, about 3:30 p.m., said Cpl. Debbi Carlson, a police spokeswoman. Williams was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
About an hour earlier, officers called to the 8500 block of Bonny Drive, east of District Heights, found a man fatally shot outside a house, Carlson said. His name was not immedately released.
Fatal Shooting A man was shot to death last night in a Fairfax County home, police said.
Police went shortly after 8 to the 6100 block of Beech Tree Drive, in the Mount Vernon area, and found the man's body. His name was not immediately released.
