Driving Hot Spots
Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.
1. Interstate 66
Four miles of I-66 will be closed for two months around Manassas beginning tomorrow. The westbound detour will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 9 p.m. Saturdays to 9 a.m. Sundays. The eastbound detour will be from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays; from 9 p.m. Fridays to 9 a.m. Saturdays; and from 9 p.m. Saturdays to 9 a.m. Sundays. Traffic will be detoured to Route 29.
2. Colesville Road
Left northbound and southbound lanes closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between the Capital Beltway and Sligo Creek Parkway.
3. Darnestown Road
Alternating traffic pattern in both directions with flagging operation 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Whites Ferry Road and the county line.
4. Capital Beltway (inner loop)
Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays between the Cherry Hill Road overpass and Rhode Island Avenue.
5. Old Route 450
Road closed at the CSX tracks in Bowie until fall 2006; a detour is in place.
6. Capital Beltway (outer loop)
Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays between the Greenbelt Metro station and Baltimore Avenue (Route 1).
7. Capital Beltway (inner loop)
Two right lanes closed 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. tomorrow through Wednesday between Route 5 and Route 210.
8. Capital Beltway (both loops)
Left lanes closed in both directions 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow and Tuesday at the Route 1 interchange.
9. Springfield interchange
Possible lane closures in both directions 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
10. Chesapeake Bay Bridge
Eastbound span will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday; traffic will be slowed periodically in both directions in 15-minute intervals.
Ride On Montgomery County
Effective Sept. 4, weekday service changes will go into effect on routes 1, 8, 14, 19, 22, 53 and 55, and weekend service changes will be made to routes 8 and 61. Additional service has been added to routes 61, 83, 97 and 98. For more details, visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov.
