Six residents will be honored by the Cultural Arts Foundation of Anne Arundel County at the 2005 Annie Awards. Author Marcia Talley will be honored for literary arts; multi-instrumentalist Mark Schatz for performing arts; Mitchell Art Gallery director Hydee Schaller for arts education; artist Joanette Hoffman Egeli for visual arts; and art collector Robert Giddings for arts patronage. Artist Thea Lindauer will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Annie Awards honor county residents who have made significant contributions to the arts. The sixth annual awards ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville.

Ralph F. Petragnani of Annapolis has been appointed business development manager at the Center for Workforce Solutions at Anne Arundel Community College. Petragnani will head the expansion of Spanish language training at businesses, government offices and nonprofit organizations in the Washington metro area. Most recently, Petragnani was the director of sales and marketing for All Weather Inc. in Hunt Valley. He has BA and MA degrees in business administration from Kennedy-Western University in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
