Attempted Murder Charge A reported accident involving a possible lovers' quarrel in Anne Arundel County has turned into an attempted murder case.
Police said they received a call about an accident along Richfield Drive in Severn just after midnight yesterday and found passersby forcibly holding a Laurel man.
Police said the suspect had smashed the windows of a car and tried to strangle the driver, who tried to pull away and accidentally ran over a woman. She has been hospitalized.
MacArthur Cole, who allegedly assaulted the driver, now faces attempted murder charges. Police said that the relationship between the man whom Cole allegedly attacked and the woman, Keyonna Earle, was the reason for the baseball bat attack. Cole also faces assault and other charges.

Lyles went to the La Plata district station of the Charles County Sheriff's Office about 9:30 a.m. yesterday, police said. Goldring arrived a few minutes later.

Slaying Suspect Arrested A New York state man suspected in the slayings of his girlfriend's parents was arrested Wednesday in Arlington as he approached his girlfriend's apartment in a vehicle owned by her mother, authorities said yesterday.
Mark Pelfrey, 25, of Niagara Falls was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. more than a day after the bodies of Gordon and Margaret Sandstrom were found in their Niagara County home, said Detective Rick Rodriguez, an Arlington County police spokesman.
Rodriguez said that Pelfrey was being held in the county as a fugitive and that New York authorities have identified him as a suspect in the slayings. Rodriguez said Pelfrey violated the conditions of his parole related to a recent attempted burglary conviction.
New York authorities were on their way to Arlington last night to interview Pelfrey and organize his transfer back to Niagara County. Authorities in Niagara County told the Associated Press that Pelfrey's girlfriend moved to Arlington about a month ago. After being unable to reach her parents, she asked a neighbor and relatives to check on them. Margaret Sandstrom, 64, had been strangled, and her 72-year-old husband was killed with a hammer, authorities told the Associated Press.
Peeping Incidents An Alexandria man who authorities said is suspected in a series of peeping Tom incidents was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted burglary, authorities said.
Keith T. Johnson, whose age was not immediately available, was arrested at his home in the unit block of Ancell Street and was being held without bond last night at the Alexandria jail. Authorities identified Johnson as the suspect in nearly a dozen peeping Tom incidents, burglaries and other suspicious events since early June.
Forensic evidence collected at one of the scenes led detectives to Johnson, police said.
