Vote on New Assessor Set
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Tuesday on Todd Kaufman's appointment as the Loudoun County assessor.
Kaufman will be responsible for managing the county's real estate assessment program. He comes to Loudoun from Richmond, where he was deputy director in the Office of the Assessor of Real Estate. Before that he managed an appraisal-consulting firm in Vermont for six years and spent 10 years in law enforcement.
A Call for Crash Witnesses
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is looking for witnesses to a single-vehicle accident Wednesday evening near Neersville in which a West Virginia man was killed.
Glenn L. Eckles, 42, of Gerrardstown, W.Va., was traveling north on Harper's Ferry Road near Sagle Road shortly before 6 p.m. when his 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup left the roadway. The vehicle hit some large rocks, rolled and struck a tree. Eckles was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he died.
The Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction unit said speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the accident. Eckles was wearing his seat belt, and the truck's airbag deployed during the crash.
Witnesses are asked to call 703-771-5798, Ext. 1873.
