'Visions in Clay'

Winnie Coggins has worked with clay for more than 30 years. Using the eastern coil method, the Columbia artist creates abstract sculptures inspired by nature and the human form. Her art can been seen in "Winnie Coggins: Visions in Clay," an exhibit running through Sept. 30 at the Artists' Gallery. 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays and by appointment. Remembering the Fallen

Howard County Executive James N. Robey, Fire Chief Joseph Herr, Police Chief Wayne Livesay and members of the Howard County Council will host a ceremony at 9 a.m. Sunday to remember county residents killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The commemoration will include a wreath-laying ceremony and a presentation of colors by the Howard County Police and Fire Honor Guard at the Garden of Hope monument. County officials will hold a memorial service for victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks Sunday at Ellicott City's Centennial Park. Tim Nedzel cleans a plaque in preparation for 2003's memorial.
