Dog Bites Elderly Pedestrian
RESTON AREA, Charter Oak Court and North Shore Drive, Aug. 29. A black-and-tan dog with short hair and long ears bit an 84-year-old female pedestrian on the leg. The dog and another dog were unleashed and accompanied by a woman who said that her name was Maria but declined to provide any other information about herself or the dogs. Anyone who might have information about the dogs or the woman is asked to call the animal control at 703-246-2253.
Raccoon Had Rabies
RESTON AREA, Cornwell Farm Dr., 9300 block, 5:50 p.m. Aug. 27. Responding to a report of a sick raccoon, animal control observed the animal acting lethargic and chewing on wood. It was euthanized and tested positive for rabies. There was no known contact.

Bat Flies Into Bedroom
WILCOXSON DR., 3900 block, Sept. 2. A woman reported that her 2-year-old daughter had been awakened by a bat flying around her bedroom. A 6-month-old child was also in the house at the time. An animal control officer captured the bat and sent it for rabies testing. The results are pending.
