The Numbers

Coach: Chris Davidson, second season

Record: 4-6

Region: 3A South

Past five seasons: 12-38

Starters back: Seven on offense, eight on defense

The Breakdown

Sophomore RB John Rosier, who saw playing time all last season as a backup, will become the Warriors' lead back. Leading the way for him will be senior FB Ryan Roach, who took over as the starter midway through last season. In front of them will be a deep line with ample size. At 280 pounds, senior Eric Jobe is the biggest of La Plata's four players who exceed 250 pounds. Senior Thomas Fitzpatrick and junior Casey Griffin also return. Sophomore John Hunsburger probably will take over at quarterback.

Defensively, Davidson acknowledges his team was vulnerable to strong air attacks last season. "It's something we have to work on," he said. The Warriors allowed 15 touchdown passes last season, and five opponents threw for at least two scores. If La Plata's defensive front could get to the quarterback consistently, it would take a lot of pressure off the defensive backfield. Jobe is going to get double-teamed frequently, which could open the door for others up front to shine.
